WORLD WAR II SPEECHES: Grading Information

__________ 1. Research Notes: 10 points. Submit these to me 2 class days before speech.

Criteria for grade: Legible notes from at least 3 sources.


__________ 2. Speech Outline: 10 points. Submit this to me 2 class days before speech.

Criteria for grade: Legible organized outline of information from at least 3 sources.

__________ 3. Speech Notecards: 15 points. Submit these to me 2 class days before speech.

Criteria for grade: Legible notes on index cards from at least 3 sources written in organized outline. DO NOT WRITE SPEECH WORD-FOR-WORD.

__________ 4. Visual Aids: 15 points.

Criteria for grade: Use props, pictures, and graphics such as maps. The visual aid should 1. make your speech more interesting 2. Help illustrate a topic or main point.

__________ 5. Speech: 100 points.

Criteria for grade:

1. You should 'dress up' to look 'professional' You are the teacher.

2. Deliver your speech with appropriate behavior.

3. You should include interesting stories--not just a series of dry facts.

4. Your speech should be 5--8 minutes long.

__________ 6. Bibliography: 10 points.

Criteria for grade: Use the correct format, as shown in the handout you received. You should include at least 3 sources.

NOTE: If you choose to interview a relative, the written summary of the interview will count as one source. You may also receive extra credit for this very important work. Please see me if you are considering this so that I can help you plan the interview and gather the information you'll use to write the summary.
